Position Title: Market Analyst

Job Description:

Responsibilities: 

  • Report on other key revenue streams such as Car Parking, Commisions and Catering.
  • Provide ad-hoc income and passenger reporting for other business functions within East Midlands Railway, interpreting business needs and providing the right information to support business decisions.
  • Conduct detailed analysis of significant events impacting on revenue performance (e.g. Sports events; Weather and Engineering work) to give the business a comprehensive understanding of those impacts.
  • Identify and implement process improvements for all data analysis and reporting.
  • Monitor sales over a variety of timescales using rail industry revenue and passenger data.
  • Utilise a variety of systems to produce data required for the needs of the business.
  • These include but are not limited to: Industry Data Warehouse (Tableau); Automatic/manual passenger counting software; MOIRA timetable analytical tool; Ticket Barrier usage system.
  • Report passenger revenue and journeys and carry out analysis to inform the wider business of the current position, drivers of demand, key influences and emerging trends.
  • Work in a fast-paced commercial environment proactively managing own workload and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Present daily, weekly, and periodic performance reports to stakeholders. You will confidently explain results and offer recommendations to the business to aid decision making.

Reqirements:

  • An ability to inform commercially lead decisions.
  • Confidence in building relationships with stakeholders across the business with the ability to coach, influence and negotiate at all levels.
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent experience
  • An understanding of or ability to develop an understanding of the UK passenger rail industry and the demand drivers for rail is desirable.
  • Experienced in analysing data, identifying trends, and articulating these to varied audiences.
  • Highly numerate, with the ability to work with and present complex data to in a clear and concise manner that is tailored to the audience.
  • Able to work with a range of ongoing simultaneous tasks and be able to plan and prioritise your own work to meet multiple conflicting demands and priorities.

About East Midlands Railway

EMR has a hybrid working policy which is applicable for this role. This means the role can be based at home 2-3 days per week and in the office 2-3 days per week. Should you wish to work full time in the office this is also an option.
