Position Title: Safekey Site Assistant

Job Description:

The Safekey Site Assistant is an entry level position which may have a regular or on-call work schedule/location.  Site Leaders may have an assigned work location or may travel within a region of sites to provide hands-on support for other Site Leaders.  Work site locations for both positions will be in Elementary. Site Assistants can be promoted to Site Leaders. Work hours for both positions can range from 6 – 9am and 2- 6pm or be a combination of both. The position will average between 19 – 25 hours per week.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs routine, entry-level work under close supervision; conducts programs for children, Kindergarten-8th grade, at satellite Safekey elementary, Ignite middle school or community center sites;
  • ensures the safety of participants is maintained at all times through consistent supervision and active engagement throughout the program;
  • models enthusiasm, innovation, motivation, initiative and involvement;
  • facilitates, leads and participates in structured program activities, and established program curriculum on a daily/weekly basis to include APPLE CORE reading, Reader’s Theater, STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), CATCH physical activities arts and crafts, recreational games, outside playtime, homework time, and other special activities;
  • assists in enforcing site safety and sign-in and sign-out procedures;
  • assists as needed with the completion of program components and paperwork/documentation such as snack distribution/sheets, fire drills, citizen incident reports, inappropriate behavior tracking reports, attendance, as well as computer-related tasks such as participant check-in/out, APPLE CORE tracking etc.;
  • opens and/or closes program sites and assists with set up/take down of program/special event equipment and supplies;
  • cleans area and equipment as directed; provides assistance to full-time or part-time classified staff or designee;
  • performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • First Aid and CPR Certification at time of start/reclassification.
  • Need to maintain the physical agility necessary to demonstrate and maintain sports, and other recreation games and activities, move and maintain equipment, and other physical activities as needed to provide the safety, welfare and security necessary.
  • 6 months of experience working with children in a group setting
  • Formal and informal education or training which ensures the ability to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance.
  • Computer experience required.
  • Bilingual skills are desirable.
