Position Title: PLANNING OFFICER

Job Description:
The Planning Service contains three Teams: Planning Policy; Strategic Development Management & Placemaking; and Non-Strategic Development Management & Enforcement. Together, we play a key role in delivering and managing the growth of the city
Responsibilities:
- putting in place a plan-led policy framework – preparing plans and guidance;
- delivering new developments through a masterplanning and placemaking approach;
- providing an efficient development management service – effectively processing the highest number of planning applications in Wales; and
- continually working to improve performance and efficiency.
- negotiating and determining applications for non-strategic development proposals, renewals, variation of conditions, prior-approvals, advertisement applications, NMAs, certificates of lawful development and heritage consents;
- discharging conditions;
- defending the Council’s planning decisions at appeal;
- assisting the enforcement function; and
- carrying out discretionary and statutory pre-application services.
Requirements:
- We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can manage a busy and a varied caseload of applications and general planning enquiries.
- You will have a qualification in town planning or equivalent, good communication skills and will be able to manage multiple priorities. Previous experience in development control with a focus on securing good quality design is preferable.
