Job Description:

As part of the wider Octopus Energy group, Octopus Renewables sources, invests in and actively manages a range of utility scale renewable energy assets. We are looking to expand our team as we continue to scale our investments base of £4bn.

Responsibilities: 

  • Manage third party HSE providers across Octopus Renewables portfolio, driving safety culture across and ensuring compliance with OR standards and procedures
  • Collect HSE data across the portfolio for the purposes of reporting and trend analysis. Includes preparation of reporting packs for Octopus Renewables Board and Fund Boards
  • Develop and maintain a full health, safety and environmental management system which supports the business its employees and ensures legal compliance.
  • Set the strategic direction for effective health, safety and environmental management.
  • Manage safety risk for Octopus Renewables based initiatives, on top of the fund own assets
  • Work proactively with managers and other key employees to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health, safety and environment.
  • Monitor, evaluate and review existing, new and upcoming health and safety legislation and ensure that Octopus Renewables has systems and procedures in place to meet legal compliance and other requirements.
  • Manage and review HSE audits, including close-out of issues or recommendations
  • Act as the responsible person for all health, safety and environmental (HSE) matters across the Octopus Renewables portfolio.

Reqirements:

  • To think flexibility, have the ability to challenge the status quo and thrive in an innovative environment
  • Highly recognised safety credentials such as NEBOSH Diploma or Degree.
  • Excellent written and presenting skills.
  • Experience of developing and rolling out a behavioral safety program.
  • Practical and pragmatic approach to health and safety management.
  • Extensive experience of the renewables sector and knowledge of key electrical safety regulations.
  • Be a strong team player with the confidence to exercise judgment appropriately, engaging with colleagues at all levels of seniority.
  • Experience of developing business health, safety and environmental strategies.
  • Ability to communicate with and influence a broad range of individuals, ranging from team members, project developers, technical
  • advisors, policymakers, Board members and the Investment Committee members.
