Job Description:
This is a full-time, FLSA non-exempt position with Carson City Public Works. Under general supervision, assists in the performance of a variety of professional and technical duties involved in grant fiscal oversight, administration and procurement of services for funding granted to a City department; and performs assigned fiscal duties
Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the overall quality of the Department’s service provision by developing and coordinating work teams and by reviewing, recommending and implementing improved policies and procedures.
- Completes fiscal portion of grant applications, as requested; assists with grant administration; and responsible for administering the fiscal portion of several grants.
- Assist with the development of “Request For Proposals” (RFP) for sub-grantees.
- Answers any inquiries relating to proposed grants, contracts, budgets and program activities.
- Performs grant and general fund reconciliation and projections.
- Administer procedures for the receipt of program funds from various funding sources; creates reports as required.
- Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with all personnel contacted in the course of duties; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
- Conducts grant contract monitoring for the Department, sub-grantees and grantors.
- Uses standard office equipment, including a computer, in the course of the work.
- Assists with budget planning and monitoring in relation to grants.
- May provide other financial services as required.
- Ensures compliance with grant conditions for the Department, and ensures that all grant conditions are in compliance.
- Assists in all audits for the Department, sub-grantees and grantors.
Requirements:
- Instructing others in work procedures; interpreting, explaining and applying requirements, rules and regulations related to various funding sources; interpreting, explaining and applying principles and practices of grant administration.

- Working without close supervision in standard work situations.
- Applying computer applications related to the job including but not exclusive to Microsoft Word,
- Office, Excel; Internet and E-Mail applications.
- Reviewing financial documents for completeness and accuracy.
- Interpreting, applying and explaining applicable laws, codes and regulations.
- Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing accurate and timely reports.
- Compiling and reviewing budget figures.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Using initiative and independent judgment within established procedural guidelines.
- Making accurate arithmetic calculations.
