Position Title:Customer Service Attendant II

Job Description:

Make a positive impact in our community and in the lives of children and families by providing recreational, and virtual programming, experiences to individuals with disabilities as a Customer Service Attendant II with the Adaptive Recreation Division of Charlottesville Parks and Recreation.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides leadership to assigned facility or site as manager on duty or the supervisor of an adaptive program or activity;
  • Assists with the planning, organization, preparation and implementation of recreation-related programming for individuals with disabilities;
  • Provides inclusion support to individuals with disabilities within a general recreation or virtual setting;
  • Assists in providing the safe operation and security of recreation centers, fields, courts, parks and programming sites through daily inspections of the site and equipment, reporting needed repairs to management;
  • Supervises the conduct of participants during recreation and/or virtual programming and facility sites;
  • Communicates effectively, professionally, courteously and thoroughly with the highest regard to the customer;
  • Maintains order by enforcing policy and rules and regulations and removes and suspends non-conforming participants;
  • Assists in the registration of participants in recreation programs;
  • Assists in the scheduling of games, meets and events;
  • Prepares and submits incident and accident reports to immediate supervisor for documentation;
  • May train part-time, volunteer or student assistants, instructors, game officials and others with regard to City and departmental policies and games and class standards and rules;
  • Responsible for the oversight of custodial functions throughout the assigned location, up to and including performing basic custodial tasks when needed;

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age by employment start date;
  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a high school diploma.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of professional experience with adaptive recreation programs, facility management, athletics, or other recreational environments;
  • Must be able to work flexible schedule including early mornings, weeknights, weekends and holidays.
