Job Description:

The Bilingual Hourly Immunization Program Administrative Technician is a member of the Boulder County Public Health (BCPH) Immunization Program and is supervised by the Immunization Administrative Technician II. This position works closely with nursing and reception staff at the Longmont and Boulder sites and supports the Immunization Program during clinics and with scheduling appointments, verifying Medicaid eligibility, processing payments, and ensuring quality reimbursement and billing practices are performed. The position must be able to communicate information about immunizations and immunization schedules and the registration process to English-speaking, monolingual Spanish-speaking clients, and clients that speak other languages.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedules immunization clinic appointments and follow-up calls to remind clients of appointments.
  • Prepares client files and documents for upcoming immunization clinic.
  • Verifies Medicaid eligibility, makes Medicaid billing copies, and processes payment for services.
  • Enters client immunization information accurately into the Colorado Immunization Information System (CIIS).
  • Provides and clarifies information for English, Spanish-speaking clients, and clients that speak other languages about completing clinic registration forms, Vaccine Information Statements, and Immunization schedules.
  • Translates for nurses when they are providing immunizations to monolingual Spanish-speaking families
  • Understands and adheres to BCPH HIPAA requirements.
  • Initiates and checks accuracy of electronic Medicaid billing monthly.
  • Conducts quality assurance activities at each clinic.
  • Provides Immunization records upon request (individuals and other county agencies).
  • Builds and maintains good working relationships within the immunization department as well as CDEM division.
  • Assures all forms, handouts, etc., are up-to-date and available for each clinic.
  • Collects payments by accepting cash, check, or credit from clinic clients. Adheres to proper administrative and accounting procedures for closing clinic.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must demonstrate fluency at the time of the pre-employment screening process. Spanish language proficiency will be determined through standardized demonstration and written and oral testing.
  •  Knowledgeable about public health immunization practices and data collection.
  •  Skilled in working with multi-cultural resident population.
  •  Needs a detailed oriented approach for ensuring accurate record keeping.
  •  Ability to work effectively with people of different cultures and belief systems.
  •  Willingness to learn about vaccine-preventable diseases and educate others on vaccines.
  •  Ability to accurately enter data into a computer system and generate computer reports and experience in Outlook, Word and Excel is desired.
  •  Ability to follow steps to validate Medicaid eligibility status.
  •  Ability to work as part of a team.
