Job Description:

An opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Senior Podiatrist to join the Southern Health’s, Avalon House. Avalon House is a Children and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS) are made up of specialist teams offering assessment and treatment to children and young people up to age 18 who have emotional, behavioural, or mental health problems.

Responsibilities: 

  • To commit to the philosophy of care with an emphasis on patient empowerment and independence by providing education and information to help patients manage their own foot needs.
  • To be proficient in comprehensive neurological and vascular assessments, wound debridement, advanced pathology, and wound management.
  • To assess, diagnose, develop, implement, and review individual treatment plans for patients with a wide range of clinical needs. To manage an individual caseload that will provide specialist care.
  • To provide a treatment plan for high risk and general patients with podiatric problems.
  • The treatment plans include a course of treatment, foot health education, advice and discharge as appropriate, continuous treatment and reassessment of high-risk patients.
  • To provide services at a wide variety of sites including a patient’s home, clinics, GP practices, community hospitals and in challenging conditions, often working in isolation.
  • To undertake specialist surgical intervention for complex nail pathologies, for example: nail avulsions and chemical destruction of the nail matrix with local anaesthesia.
  • Providing an efficient, effective, and consistent high-quality treatment to the patient in a range of different clinical settings.

Reqirements:

  • HCPC Registration.
  • RIO and ICE knowledge (Desired)
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development.
  • Degree in Podiatry.
