Position Title:Aquatics Maintenance Specialist IV

Job Description:

The Charlottesville Parks and Recreation Department is seeking qualified candidates to be considered for the Aquatics Maintenance Specialist IV position who are highly motivated and who strive for success by demonstrating Charlottesville’s Core Values of Leadership, Trust, Creativity, Respect, and Excellence.

Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for equipment maintenance related to area of specialization;
  • Accountable for the requisition, storage, application, disposal of hazardous materials including pesticides, fertilizers and other turf care products;
  • Accountable for the safe and proper operation of basic and advanced equipment engaged in routine maintenance and construction projects
  • Compiles and retains operational and safety records that comply with federal, state and City regulatory and safety standards;
  • Conducts inspections of projects and work in progress and upon completion.
  • Directs and is engaged in the work of assigned crews, and interprets construction plans;
  • Ensures that subordinates are aware of and follow all safety regulations and procedures;
  • Ensures that subordinates are aware of and meet maintenance standards
  • Inspects park facilities and grounds for safety hazards and operational deficiencies, recommends improvements and initiates corrective measures;
  • May review and oversee the work of contractors or vendors;
  • Resolves issues in the field as they occur;

Requirements:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective public and working relationships; Ability to follow detailed written and verbal instructions;
  • Ability to give detailed written and verbal instructions;
  • Ability to keep records of repair, service, or maintenance operations;
  • Ability to perform demanding physical work for continued periods; Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks;
  • Ability to work outside with regular exposure to severe weather; Basic skills within the Microsoft Office Suite and e-mail.
  • Five years related experience preferred.
